Australia to Istanbul logistics
- Flight time: 18–22 hours with one stop (typically via Doha, Dubai, or Singapore)
- Time zone: 7–9 hours difference depending on AU state
- Visa: e-visa available online for Australian passports
Long-haul travel: we recommend at least 2 days in Istanbul before surgery to recover from the flight, and not flying back until day 8+ when initial swelling has resolved.
Planning the trip around the procedure
For Australian patients, the trip is essentially never just about surgery — most patients combine with European/Middle East travel. Recommended structure:
- Arrive 2–3 days before surgery, adjusted for jet lag
- 10–14 nights minimum in Istanbul
- Travel onward to other European destinations when cleared (week 2+)
- Total trip length 3–4 weeks works well
Frequently asked questions
How long should I plan to stay in Istanbul?
Minimum 7 nights for single-area surgery; 10 nights more comfortable; 10–14 nights for quad or combined procedures.
Can I have follow-up at home after returning?
Yes — WhatsApp and video follow-up at week 2, week 4, month 3, and month 6. For complications requiring in-person assessment we can coordinate with a local plastic surgeon.
